As a new student, you have taken that first step of
becoming a truck driver. We are excited for your success, and have listed
some helpful tips to help you in your career goals.
Be on time for class.
Take all instruction seriously.
Participate in the training and complete all assignments.
Bring a pen and paper to take notes.
Use your time wisely, especially for study and homework.
Work with your fellow students, it will be beneficial,
as they will also be your fellow employees.
Bring a sweater or jacket. The classrooms can be
cold.
Make sure you bring an original Social Security
card, Drivers License, and a Certified Birth Certificate.
All Swift Academies have a zero tolerance of the
use of/or possession of drugs and/or alcohol, and the possession of
weapons.
You must be able to pass a D.O.T. physical, alcohol/drug
screen, and Work Well exam - no exceptions. You may want to bring
a healthy snack and avoid caffeine due to the D.O.T. physical.
We recommend that you bring at least $150.00 extra
for meals, snacks, laundry, toiletries, etc.
Bring a credit card/phone card for phone services
at the hotel and Academy.
Bring any medical information, employment history,
certification, or other documents that might be helpful for verification.
While attending the Academy, we reccommend that
you treat it as if it were a new job.
Should you have any problems at the Driving Academy,
please take the opportunity to discuss them with your instructor first.
If your instructor is unable to resolve your problem then please contact
the Academy manager.
