Swift
Tansportation Fleet Safety
Swift Transportation Co., Inc. takes pride in operating
one of the most well maintained fleets in the trucking industry.
To insure this quality we inspect our trucks as they enter our terminals.
When a driver enters one of our safety lanes, he/she does not just
get fuel and an opportunity to clean his windows. A trained safety
lane attendant will perform a safety check of the truck and trailer
to insure it is safe to operate on public roadways. All of the lights
on the truck and trailer are checked to verify that they illuminate
and function properly. The tires are checked to insure they are within
depth guidelines and meet all DOT tire regulations. The brakes are
also inspected to insure they are in proper working order.
Finally,
the truck and trailer are visually checked for any structural defects
and hazards. By performing these checks we help minimize unwanted
road side breakdowns. More importantly though, we assure our trucks
are
safe to share the roads with you and your family.
From day one, safety has been the highest priority
at Swift Transportation. Safety for our employees, customers and motoring
public will always remain our primary focus in all the policies, procedures
and programs that govern our business.
We believe safety is the responsibility of every level of management,
beginning with the Chief Executive Officer. It is the responsibility
of all managers to:
• Maintain high standards in employee selection
• Provide a safe working environment
• Provide initial and ongoing safety training
• Eliminate unsafe acts through corrective
action
• Abide by Company safety policies and
procedures
• Adhere to Federal, State, and Local safety,
health and environmental Laws and Regulations
• Insist on a commitment to safety from
all employees
• Managing and working with a commitment
to safety will contribute to the improved efficiencies of our operation
and ensure future success
and continued prosperity of our employees, customers, company and
communities.
