Swift Driving Academy: Phoenix, AZ (Print information)

Arrival Time:	Must not arrive at the hotel before 1 pm Tuesday. If you are driving, save gas receipts and turn these in to the processor in Phoenix when you attend Orientation. Your reimbursement will be on one of your paychecks.
Start Time:	Wednesday morning at 6:00 am, the Swift shuttle will pick you up in the hotel lobby. If you are driving, please report to the Academy before 6:30 am. Bring a jacket, the classrooms are cold.
Bus Drop off:	From bus station, call 800-800-2200 and tell the operator that you need the shuttle to come to the Greyhound station and to bring you to the hotel. If you arrive after 5pm, you will need to take a taxi, costing approx $25.

Lunch Provided:	No, bring about $150 extra for meals.
Items Needed:	$150 money order payable to Swift Driving Academy. This is required the first day of class. No Cash or Personal Checks accepted. Drivers License & MVR Must bring a certified MVR report from each state you have had a license in for the last 39 months. You must prove to Arizona DMV that you have had a license for a 12 month period. Social Security Card (not laminated) Birth Certificate Alien Registration Card (if applicable) Pen (black ink) Pad for notes Calculator High-lighter Work Gloves Flashlight Poncho or Rain suit Hat and sunscreen Credit card / phone card for phone services Glasses, contacts, and hearing aids if required. Money for food and other personal expenses Bunk beds with sheets are provided but you need to bring a blanket or sleeping bag. If you are staying at the hotel it is strongly recommended that you bring an alarm clock to ensure proper arrival time at orientation.

Please wear appropriate attire while attending school. Bring clothing for various weather conditions. Coin laundry available at hotel. The following applies:

1. Collar length hair, long hair has to be pulled back in a ponytail.
2. Beards and moustaches neatly trimmed.
3. No shorts or tank tops.
4. No sandals, flip flops, or any open toed shoes.
5. No excessive amount of jewelry.

Be prepared to leave with a mentor for up to 6 weeks after your schooling. When out with a trainer you will not be guaranteed any home time.

You must be able to pass a D.O.T. physical, substance / alcohol testing, Swift Work Well Program, and have 20/40 vision or below in each eye.

You will be sharing a suite with three other people of the same sex. All suites are non-smoking and include a TV and a kitchen area with microwave and a small refrigerator.

Please leave your valuables at home since Swift and the EconoLodge are not responsible for such losses. Do not bring any weapons with you. This includes knives and pocketknives.

Any student found with alcohol or a person of the opposite sex in their room at any time will be terminated and sent home immediately at their own expense.

Must bring money for food and other personal expenses.

You must have proof that you have held a valid driver’s license for at least 12 months before attending the Academy.

If you hold a drivers license in one of these 10 states: Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, Utah, or Washington, you MUST BRING a Certified State Issued Birth Certificate. Copies of original or fax copies are not acceptable. Hospital birth certificates are not acceptable. You must be able to feel the raised stamp on the birth certificate.

Facility & Equipment Description

A 5,000 square foot office and classroom equipped with state-of-the-art video equipment and other visual aids.

A 25 acre driving range.

Training equipment includes freightliner tractors with conventional design, as well as 53' long trailers. All equipment is owned by the institution and is maintained in a clean, modern facility.
